About Donovan

Welcome to my bio page! This is where I get to toot my horn about what I’ve accomplished and have to offer but my real goal is to listen to what you need and do everything I can to answer your questions and be a savvy representative for you in the sale or purchase of your home.

I have a wide variety of life and work experiences that dovetail very well into my career as a Real Estate Broker.  As a general contractor I worked with a wide variety of clients on numerous kinds of projects ranging from painting to whole house remodeling to doing the build-in for a local bar.  What I found that set me apart from other contractors (beyond my carpentry skills and attention to detail) was that I am patient, I listen well, and I keep my clients informed.  I also have a degree in Horticulture and several years of experience as an office coordinator and accounting assistant working with the CFO of two small local businesses. As a licensed Real Estate Broker I stay current on market changes through my boots on the ground experience and also by continuing education via Windermere Education, the Realtor Association, and the NWMLS. Recent courses have included topics such as ethics, forms changes and legal updates. I also have received a Short Sale Negotiator Certification.

As your representative in buying a home I listen intently and work with you to clarify what makes up your most ideal home. Navigating the waters of such a large decision can be difficult but I’ve found that the most satisfied folks are the ones that can both find a home which meets their pragmatic criteria but also feels right on a gut level. In addition, I can help parse out which homes are good investments based on the location, the flow of the house & its architecture, and its overall condition. Having remodeled houses from the studs out I have an eye for the possibilities and what level of ease or difficulty would be involved in making changes and improvements. When it comes time to write an offer I will work hard to make sure you not only get the home you want but also at a price which will optimize your equity position.

As your representative in selling your home I will help you decide on a price based on comparable homes in the area. I often take Sellers out to tour comparable homes so that you can price yours competitively and see how your home stacks up against the competition. I will help you decide if you want to invest in any improvements (refinishing floors, painting, or landscaping, for example) and if so what would give you the greatest return by increasing the overall appeal of your home to prospective Buyers. I will help you with staging, detailing, and will provide professional photography.  I’ll then help you choose the strongest offer to insure a smooth transaction.

Together Scott and I make a great team.  I am truly honored to work with him and am always amazed at his level of knowledge from the process of real estate transactions to his detailed knowledge of Seattle’s neighborhoods. We both found our way here to Seattle around the turn of the millennium, he from Texas and I from North Carolina.  We both wanted to have all the fun and excitement of an urban environment and still be just a stone’s throw from the mountains and beaches. We both love this area and we love to share our enthusiasm about local events, places to see, what each neighborhood has to offer, local history & architecture, and of course our favorite hikes.  There is a lot to love about Seattle and the surrounding area and we are excited to help you find your own nest here in the Northwest!
